~French Door Refrigerators~

~Updating your kitchen?  Thinking of replacing your refrigerator with a newer style?  French-door refrigerators are a fairly new to the kitchen appliance scene.  They are becoming very popular and are often seen on television decorating shows.   The design combines side-by-side refrigerator doors (French doors) with a single pull-out freezer drawer below.  They normally have large storage areas for deli items, beverage chillers and other compartments for keeping the fridge organized.

When we bought a new refrigerator a few years ago, this type refrigerator was priced over $3000 but recently I have seen them advertised for less than $2000.  We got a regular side-by-side with the freezer on the left and the fridge on the right but my next refrigerator will probably be a french-door refrigerator!

Hi Shirley

This is the kind we bought 4 years ago and I love it! It is easy to get things out of the bottom drawer and I would recomend it.

My grandmother had a fridge/freezer with that design that she bought back in the 1960s.  Hadn't seen any new ones produced until just a few years ago - its a really convenient arrangement!

Guess good ideas never really go away, do they?  Sometimes they're just paused for a while.

My parents bought one of these and absolutely love it, they even got the one with bonus doors, just for the milk.

My daughter and soninlaw recently bought one of these kinds, it holds a huge amount of food and drinks it seems in comparison to the old refrigerator in the same space.  (they found one at the local, scratch and dent store and saved a huge amount of money).

Hi Trey, Thanks for recommending this refrigerator.  I was hoping someone who has one would comment.

Hmmm Kent, I didn't realize this fridge had been around before.  Good info.

Cool Todd, I need to check out the bonus doors.  I'm thinking that probably means deeper shelves on the doors.

Thanks Gail, I understand you can get some good bargains at a scratch and dent store.

I love these refrigerators and have one on my wish list!

We were actually thinking about making this switch.  I think it depends on where you store more food... are you a freezer gal?  If so, you want more things in the freezer and therefore more space is needed.  We store more things outside of the freezer, so do not need as much space.  And although these refrigerators do have plenty of freezer space, we find they have more 'non freezer' space which is why we like it.
