Shirley's San Antonio Real Estate Blog: There's a Killer Stalking My Neighborhood

There's a Killer Stalking My Neighborhood

There’s a killer on the loose in our neighborhood and there have been 5 victims so far, maybe more. From the evidence, it is apparent that the killer is a member of my very own household.

I took this good looking guy into my home several months ago. Previously my daughter had met and fallen in love with him at the shelter where he was living when she volunteered there. So against my advice, she moved him into her apartment. She became disenchanted with the arrangement after she found out how very high maintenance he was. But she didn’t want him to go back to the shelter... so I took him in.

At first there were no problems; I didn’t mind paying his expenses and grew rather fond of him. Then the first victim showed up, then another, until now there are 5. The first 3 victims were killed but the last 2 were maimed beyond being able to function.

This is something I didn’t expect from my house guest and, frankly, I don’t know what to do about it. He sleeps in the house at night but heads out the door in the morning and each day I pray that there will be no victim that day.

Fluffy is a cat of interest in the demise of 2 geckos and 1 neo natal bird, and of serious bodily injury to 2 doves.

Hi Shirley, I once had a killer much like Fluffy, it's a terrible feeling when you are harboring a criminal!  We lost our cat before I could try this, but I've heard a bell on their collar will give the prey a little warning that they are being stalked. Good luck!

Well this is a great example of a "Grabber" Headline!  I was talking today about the little "presents" cats like to leave us mere humans.  Remember to always say Thank You!

Shirley,  did you forget to tell FLUFFY his name meant cute and cuddly?  LOL..  Fluffy is just doing what cats are inclined to do... stalk birds and stuff.

Hi Mary, He has lost or somehow divested 2 collars with his tags on them.  But I will try again with a bell.  Great idea!

Hi Gail, With a name like Fluffy you would think that he would act better!  He is cute and cuddy but then those primal instincts are still there!

Hi Laura, Thanks... LOL.  He seems to think these atrocities are gifts to us but it just horrifies me!

One of my cats likes to bring home "presents" for me.  He brings them home and drops them at the door.  He is proud of what he caught.  He did his job.  I used to get very upset but I have to keep telling myself that it's his natural instinct to hunt.  I have tried putting a bell on his collar and he manages to take it off in a few days. He is fresh but I love him so much!!

Hi Kate, Fluffy sits there near his "presents" in what I call the loaf position, all puffed up with what I suppose is pride!

Shirley, you could make Fluffy and inside-only cat. Of course, Fluffy might think he has been put in prison -- any possibility of parole?

Shirley you really had me going for a minute. Those darn cats do the craziest things sometimes just to get a little attention. Any snakes yet?

Shirley - I think you just need to make Fluffy a indoor cat. He will learn to deal with being indoors.

Howdy there Shirley

I sure do like your title for this here post of yours. The puting a bell on a kitty cat's collar, that Mary told you about. Does work!

We don't have to do that with our little girl Alexis, she does not want anything to do with the outdoors. Be glad that Fluffy does not bring them to you in bed. When Alexis gets a mouse, she puts the head and butt of it on our bed for us. She never eats tose two parts of a mouse. We always tell her thank you.

God Bless America

I too also posted about my Marci.  So far, nothing dead at my front door.  Although she has had her eye on two Mockingbirds.

I was going to say... Fluffy sure doesn't sound like a killer :) more like sweet, innocent little cutie. ~Rita

Hi Shirley,

My cat Yaz enjoyed your post.  I haven't had any presents from her - she is a city cat from Las Vegas.  We are visiting my Mom in the mountains of Wyoming and the only animal I have seen her stalk was a moose.  Yes, a big bull moose not a mouse. I told her that there is a difference.

Andrew, I think Fluffy must have been an outside cat before he went to the shelter.

C&C, No snakes yet.  That would really freak me out.

Robert, My daughter tried making him an indoor cat but that resulted in trashed window blinds!

Dale, That would freak me out to find Fluffy's gifts on my bed!

Angelia, I love your Marci posts.

Rita, He is an adorable looking, fluffy black and white tuxedo cat.  Just goes to show you can't judge a book by looking at the cover.

Mine too, Greg.  My inner child still enjoys watching cartoons.  Mostly the older ones.

You may wake up to find a moose lying at your Mom's doorstep. LOL.

I dont know... seems pretty normal for a cat, right? I dont have any cats. They are sweet when they are kittens, but then they grow up... and I get surprises like you did.  I dont want that. :-)

I've always thought of myself as a dog person, John.  But Fluffy can be pretty sweet.  It's my daughter's fault that I have a cat!

I would say Fluffy cares about your opinion therefore show you what occupies his free time.

Kate

When cats bring home bodies or body parts it is a gift. Mine brought an entire rabbit home once.

Oh joy.  I like the tone and setting of this blog entry, written like a newspaper article.

Fluffy is doing what comes naturally to Fluffy, as much as we abhor it.  Mine brought a red bird yesterday, and since all three kitties go in and out, they are all suspects, now.  The big cat, Atticus, usually brings small things - butterflies, grasshoppers.  Bagheera and Destiny (I inherited these from my wayward child), haven't demonstrated their prowess, yet, but Bagheera does camouflage herself in the shrubs.  She has the biggest red "x" so far.  We'll see.

Funny, none of them has the face of a bird killer.

Hi Matt, I have seen one rabbit in our neighborhood and I hope Fluffy doesn't drag him home!

Hi Alabama,  We have a beautiful caridnal male and female who reside in our back yard.  I would be heartbroken if anything happened to them...

Hi Shirley, do you have one of those bumper stickers that says "Guns don't kill birdies, Cats kill birdies"?  :)

I am from Japan and also now'm speaking English, tell me right I wrote the following sentence: "Would think it would be easy to find and buy grandfather clocks, but as we in the industry know, that not always clock manufacturer." Thanks for the help :(, Brice.
