Recently I met a lady named Flo who told me she had opened a New York pizzeria here in San Antonio on San Pedro near Ramsey. Intrigued by the name of the place, Bada Bing, and the persona of it's Italian owner, I told her my husband and I would stop in sometime. The New York/New Jersey Italian culture is one that I am only familiar with by what I see on TV or in the movies and I like trying out different ethnic foods so I looked forward to a visit.
Last Sunday we stopped in with the intent on my part of having a salad and my husband having whatever he wanted. It turns out Bada Bing is closed on Sunday but our warm and friendly hostess insisted we be served anyway. She presented us with an Italian sub that made me forget all about a salad. Flo's husband, Rick, made a wonderful pizza for my husband. The pizza was really good with the meat, veggies, and tons on cheese atop a thin and crispy crust. Another realtor, a friend of Flo's, came in and invited me to a networking event being held there on Tuesday.
We liked Bada Bing so much that our daughter and grandkids took us back for my husband's birthday lunch the following Tuesday. We finished lunch and I stayed for the networking event and met lots of new people.
This mom-and-pop type restaurant serves more than pizza and subs. Salads, calzones, stromboli, lasagna and more are on the menu. The menu varies somewhat by day and time. The decor is not fancy but the prices are very reasonable and the food quality is very good. They also do take-out and delivery. They are closed on Sunday but if you stop by and the door is open, they will serve you. And they will make you feel right at home!

That's Flo on the left:

Shirley this place sounds scrumptious! I love a good sub sandwich and all the other things too, what a wonderful experience you had meeting all the folks and then a new networking group! Super cool.
That's really taking the extra step in providing customer service. I'll give them a try sometime this week too.
Gail, I was supposed to be on Weight Watcher's and that was why I planned on getting a salad. The sub was way too good to pass up.
Hi Wayne, You will definitely get good customer service at Bada Bing. Enjoy!
You're making me hungry. I love good thin crust pizza. I'll try Bada Bing.
Look at you working those key words! Bada Bing Bada Bang!
Hi Jimmy, You will like it there!
haha, Greg...
Howdy there Shirley
You really need to put a link for this fine local business post of yours, over on AR Bob's local busiess challenge post, my friend.
You sure do not find this kind of business owners every day. To have them insist on serving you and your husband, even though they were not open for business. But just happen to be there for a meeting, sure does say a lot about the fine folks they are.
And to also get invited to a networking event by a realtor friend of Flo's, you were truely meant to be there on that Sunday and at that time. I'm sure both of these fine things happen for such a fine and caren lady as yourself.
Serendipity is one of my favorite things. You really met a go-getter and you will have lots of good luck from this one encounter. Guaranteed. Thanks for stopping by my spot. I am honored to have read this blog post. You will be among my favorites forever.
Shirley - this looks like a great place, and one I have not ever been to. I love love love pizza and will absolutely have to try it out!! Thanks for sharing!
Point well taken, Dale. Thanks for the thumbs up!
Hugs, Suzanne, That is one of the nicest things anyone has ever said to me on ActiveRain!
Jeanna, Let me know what you think. Tell Flo I sent you.
This sounds like a great place Shirley. How nice to offer you up some food on the day they are closed. Nothing says 'family owned and operated' more than that. Great testimonial.
Howdy there Shirley
Your quite welcome, my friend. I do my best to keep an eye out for my friends!
I wonder why they are closed on Sunday. That seems odd. Maybe they cater to the business clientele.
Nice work with your feature on Bada Bing Pizza Shirley! I am sure they like the exposure.
Hi Bill, Thanks for the thumbs up.
Hi Jim, You are correct. They get a lot of business customers.
Hi Dale, Thanks friend.
Hi John, Yes, I'm sure a chain wouldn't have bent their "rules" to serve someone who popped in while they were closed.

Hi Shelby, I was thrilled to see that you left a comment to let us know about the plans for moving. I think St. Mary's will be a great location for Flo's restaurant. Thanks for letting us know!
