New Lead Paint Renovation Rules

Deborah Tremblay has provided us with new information about the new EPA rules regarding homes built before 1978 and lead based paint.

More new rules, more regulations, more paperwork...

Via Deborah Tremblay (William Raveis Real Estate and Home Services):

The new EPA rules regarding renovation, repair and painting done on homes built before 1978 now require renovators and painting contractors to get certified with the EPA's new lead based work practices. Home owners are exempt.

We are being told it will not impact us. Right! How about the home owner who does the work them selves to save the cost and it comes out terrible? Try selling that house. Or, repair work that never does get done, because of the now increased price? Those energy saving windows will never get installed.

This new law is to protect children from the dust containing lead paint, but this law is over the edge. In this economy, it is really going to sting the contractors and home owners both!

The government specializes in over the top regulation.  Sorry, that you're going through it.  Good luck Shirley.

As if getting certified is going to do anything.

I'm sure getting certified comes along with a fee and it isn't about the children, its about generating income for another government agency.

As long as you don't chew on the walls, things are fine.
