National Cybersecurity Awareness Month

Cybersecurity Awareness Month at UTSA

Cybersecurity is a subject we are all concerned about, especially those who do online banking or enter personal information on a website.  It is good to know there are resources for learning more about how to protect ourselves and our online information.

The UTSA Office of Information Technology's Information Security Office will host activities in support of Cybersecurity Awareness Month.  The event was created by the US Department  of Homeland Security and the National Cyber Security Alliance.

The program focuses on the following concerns of information security: phishing, MySpace/Facebook, password creation and PC safety. UTSA events will feature lectures by information security professionals, a specialized Web site, and informational posters and bookmarks.

I like all of the events but particular attention should be "How Safe Are You". I would say most of us are not very safe in cyberspace or otherwise. Cybersecurity is definitely something all of us shoudl take seriously.

Nice post.

I sure do hope lots of folk's stop in to read this post. Folk's just don't know how unsafe it can be in cyberspace some times. Like all them E-Mail's folk's get saying if you help me you'll get a lot of money. Don't even open them just del. them. Or the ones saying there is something wrong with your bank acct. we you to reset your oass word. Don't do it, call your bank and talk to them. If they really need you to do something, they don't E-Mail you about it.
